Pearl G. Greenholt

Pearl G. Greenholt, at almost age 102 ½ years, who after fighting so hard to stay with us for as long as possible, died peacefully early Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Augsburg Lutheran Home in Baltimore, MD, where she had been a resident for the last seven years. She was born on October 9, 1914 in Hatfield, PA, and was the youngest of seven children born to Henry and Flora Godshall. Pearl was a lifelong parishioner of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, having taught Sunday School and played the organ for many years. She was a member of Perry Chapter 458 Order of The Eastern Star. Among Pearl's favorite things were flowers and gardening, canning, antiques, ballroom dancing, quilting, music and most of all spending time with her devoted family. She was the widow of Edward J. Greenholt and is survived by many loved ones including her four children, Tracy Greenholt and his wife Barbara, Cynthia Strite, Karen Phillips and Charles Greenholt and his wife Kelly Stange. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kent Greenholt and his wife Megan, Sherry Phillips, Christina Zukor, Layne Greenholt and his wife Anna, and Cori Baker and her husband Tyler and her great grandchildren, Cary Rucker, Maya and Ella Greenholt, Marina, Anatoly, Eyla, Nadia and Natasha Zukor. Pearl also made many friends during her years at Augsburg, most especially Pastor Ray Rogers, her dedicated aide and devoted friend, Jhamari (Jay) Massenburg, and her loyal friend George Fitzwater. She always said that her faith in God and her living off the land guided her throughout her long life. We know that she is at last at peace as she now joins all those she loved so much who have gone before her. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, March 11, 2017 in the Boyer Family Funeral Home, 101 W. Main Street, New Bloomfield, PA. Vicor Linda Shank will officiate. Burial will be in New Bloomfield Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Eastern Star services will be held at 12:45 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 46 W. High St., New Bloomfield, Pa. 17068 or Augsburg Lutheran Home, 6811 Campfield Road, Balltmore, MD 21207.
