Marna Lee Boyer

Marna Lee (Zimmerman) Boyer, 80, of Rambo Hill Road, Shermans Dale, went to be with the Lord early Tuesday, April 30, 2024 surrounded by her loving husband and daughters. Born May 7, 1943 in Harrisburg, she was the 4th of seven children born to Lawrence and Agnes (Ayers) Zimmerman. Marna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She was a 1961 graduate of Susquenita High School and a member of Newport Assembly of God Church and volunteered with The Bread of Life Outreach program. Along with her husband, she was Co-owner of Boyer Family Funeral Homes and Cremation services Inc. She was a horticulturist with a green thumb, who enjoyed touring the gardens of Europe. She was an avid reader, especially Agatha Christie and James Harriot. She enjoyed a proper English tea and a meticulously kept home. Marna is survived by the love of her life for 61 years, Douglas T. Boyer, three daughters: Heather (Peter) Thompson, Duncannon; Natalie (Frank) Gillis, Mechanicsburg; Adrienne Hendricks, Harrisburg. She was affectionately known as “Baggy” to her six grandchildren: Monica Wilson, Taryn Meck, Devan Lewis, Laurel (Aaron) Betts and Hunter and Alison Beinhaur (and their Dad, Ron); and eleven great grandchildren: Landon, Adam, Lana and Barrett Meck, Liam, Tyson, Piper and Benjamin Lewis, and Wyatt, Reagan and Logan Betts. She is also survived by a sister Beth (Tom) Perkins and brother Karl (Linda) Zimmerman, both of Marysville and brother David (Bessa) Zimmerman of Florida, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she is pre-deceased by a brother Paul Zimmerman and two sisters, Lois Himes and Barbara Boak. A memorial service and luncheon will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at 1:00pm in The Family Life Center of Newport Assembly of God, with Rev. Gary Bellis and Rev. Tony Hill officiating. Interment will be private. The Boyer Family kindly requests memorial contributions be made in Marna’s name to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 or your local library.
