Leroy K. Sites,

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me.' -Erma Bombeck Leroy K. Sites Jr, of New Bloomfield, took the final breath of his well-loved life on October 30, 2018, at his home. He was born on December 14, 1932 in Carlisle, the eldest child of Leroy K. Sites Sr and Georgiana (Shorb) Sites Smallwood. Leroy lived every day of his 85 years in the way only Leroy could - sharing his strength, love and laughter with all who knew him. After years of searching for adventure in the streets of Carlisle, he decided to "go over the mountain" where he found his future wife, Arlie Pearl (Morrison) Sites. They married on September 1, 1951 and spent the next 53 years together, welcoming 3 daughters, Sheila, Shayne and Staria along the way. Leroy and Arlie shared many adventures together until her passing in 2007. He worked hard for his family, with successful careers at Capital Products, P.R. Hoffman and Prudential Insurance. Never one to sit still, he was active with many organizations including West Shore Camera Club, Mt. Washington Observatory, Perry County Council of the Arts, Perry County Pomona Grange #69, New Bloomfield Fire Co., New Bloomfield Sportsman Club, Adams Lodge F&AM, Elks Club of Carlisle and was an active member of Trinity Christian Church. He really began living after his retirement, taking up cross country skiing, bicycling, touring historical sites, sneaking on to movie sets, basket making and gardening. In his later years, he was an accomplished photographer and Elvis impersonator (if you were lucky enough to be at the right place, at the right time). Leroy would tell you he was most proud of his accomplishments as a family man. And, you would need to be sitting down while he told you about his family, because there were a lot of them! Loved ones who will miss Leroy until they meet again include his 3 daughters; Sheila Sites of Dillsburg, Shayne Sites of Harrisburg and Staria Reisinger (Ron Fickett) of Mechanicsburg; 8 grandchildren; Sarah (Lloyd) Geesaman, Gretchen (Shaun) Pugh, Meranda (Kraig) Sellers, Alexis (Clay) McAllister, Emily (Matthew) Hoover, Jesse (Jacqueline) Reisinger, Thomas (Colleen) Sites and Abby (Brad) Entrekin. And if that wasn't enough, he was also a devoted grandpa to 30 (that's right, thirty) great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Leroy also leaves behind his 2 sisters Donna Boyd of Camp Hill and Elva Cartwright of Nassau, Bahamas; his step-mother Marcia Sites of Elizabethtown and special companion Ethel Heishman of Clearwater, FL. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Arlie, and step-father George Smallwood. Please join us in celebrating his life on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 11 AM at Trinity Christian Church, 106 W. High St, New Bloomfield, with graveside burial to follow at New Bloomfield cemetery. Please come share your favorite Leroy stories (we all have them) at a luncheon at his church following the burial. Visitation will be held Monday, November 5, 2018 from 6-8 PM at Boyer Funeral Home, 101 W. Main St, New Bloomfield, Masonic services will be held at 7:45 PM. There will also be a visitation at Trinity Christian Church prior to the services on Tuesday November 6, 2018 from 10-11 AM. In lieu of flowers, honor Leroy's memory by bringing a smile to another's face or sharing a laugh with a loved one. If you spent any time with him, he's surely done this for you, so pass it on!
