James H. Tressler

James H. Tressler passed away February 26th, 2019. James was the son of the late Ralph and Helen Tressler. He was born on October 6th, 1934 at the home of Ralph and Helen, 201 S Carlisle Street, New Bloomfield, PA. He lived in New Bloomfield his entire life and had great pride in his town. He attended, played football, and graduated from Perry Joint High School. After school he worked for his father at the family business, "Tressler's Service Station," eventually taking over after his fathers' death. He also was a member of the New Bloomfield Fire Station where he served as Assistant Fire Chief and served on the ambulance crew for several years. He was a member of the New Bloomfield Lions Club, where he took an active role in getting the traditional Lions Club plays started. James worked additional jobs such as New Bloomfield mail carrier, assistant at Clemens's Funeral Home, Hauled race horses to the Pocono's and New York for Jim Stambaugh, and served as New Bloomfield's deputy sheriff. Some of his hobbies included working on sprint cars, going to the races, hunting, fishing, and watching his grandchildren in their many sporting events. He attended North Side Baptist Church. James is survived by his wife Nancy, children Randy Tressler and his wife Sherry, Judy Ricker and her husband Donny, and Tracey Tressler, six grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and his good buddy Toby the dog. He was preceded in death by his sister Betty Taylor. James's viewing will be held Friday, March 1, 2019, 6-8 PM at Boyer Family Funeral Home in New Bloomfield. The funeral service will be held at the New Bloomfield Fire House on March 2nd with the viewing starting at 10:00am, followed by the service at 11:00am. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please donate to the New Bloomfield Fire Company. The Boyer Family is honored to handle the arrangements for the Tressler Family.
