Robert Parkison

Robert “Bob” “Bus” Parkison, 85 years of age, long time resident of New Bloomfield, PA passed away peacefully on November 29th, 2021. Bob was born on February 2, 1936 to John and Helen (Smeigh) Parkison in New Bloomfield, Pa. He graduated in 1957 from Perry Joint High School, married Barbara Smee and raised two children at his residence in New Bloomfield. Bob was a hard worker and employed by Food Fair, PPG and went on to retire from his position as maintenance technician with Cumberland Perry Area Vocational School. “Uncle Bus” had a quick wit and ready sense of humor. He enjoyed driving in the Spring with the top off his Jeep and driving his classic Corvette in parades and shows. Camping, eating out and traveling were all great joys to him. When he wasn’t out in the yard on his John Deer, he was building his collection of John Deer paraphernalia. In his later years he could be found sharing the latest local gossip with the morning “Bitting’s Coffee Club” in Newport. He never stopped tending his land and enjoyed watching the wildlife in the orchard and gardens. He worked his little green tractor hard and he gave us some palpitations when he would get it stuck with his shenanigans. His list of community service and club memberships included: Local Corvette club, Volunteer Fire Fighters of New Bloomfield, Enlisted in Army Reserves, United Brethren Evangelical Church, North American Fishing Club and honorary member of the PA Sheriffs Association. Bob is lovingly survived by Sisters Mary Alice Keller (Rick) of Shermans Dale and Susan Barnhart (Terry) of Carlisle. “Uncle Bus” to Nieces Melissa Keller Anderson and Angela Keller Bard. Nephews Brandon Barnhart and Brian Barnhart. He was a treasured Great Uncle to many great nieces and nephews. He also leaves a faithful companion “Sammy” the cat. He was predeceased by both parents, his wife Barbara Smee and both sons, Clinton and Craig Parkison. Services to celebrate the life, love and laughter of Bob will be held at Boyer Family Funeral Home on Saturday, December 18th in New Bloomfield. Visitation will start at 10:00 AM with a service to follow at 11:00 AM. Memorial contributions can be made to Perry County Animal Rescue.
