Miriam "Margie" Santos

Miriam "Margie" Santos July 31, 1950 - May 17, 2026 Feeding people was her love language. Friend or family, she knew no strangers. If you were lost and stopped for help, she would offer you a drink and ask if you were hungry. If she saw you had small children in your car, she gave them snacks. She was a beacon to all who crossed her path. Her care did not only include the lost, but the frequent "friends" who delivered packages. Delivering on a hot day? "Let me get you a cold drink." Comment on the smell of whatever she was cooking, and she would either offer to feed you there on the spot or tell you to stop back and she'll have some ready for you in a to go container. Words do not adequately convey not only how much she was loved, but also the amount of love she had for others, especially her husband Bert. married for 59 years, they grew up together facing all of life's challenges as one. Together, they had two children: Bert Santos Jr of New Bloomfield, PA and Melissa Santos of Enola, PA. Margie was the oldest of 7 children and was a second mother to her siblings. Maria Ashford (PA), Gladys Henry (deceased), Carmen Lacharite (FL), Diana Vega (PA), Juan Vega (GA) and Eileen Waters (PA). She was a hairdresser for a number of years before working at New Cumberland Army Depot and eventually retiring from Mechanicsburg Navy Depot. Not content to sit at home, she was an in-home companion for a few years. Margie loved cooking, crafts, growing herbs and vegetables and her "monkey" movies. Her greatest joy, however, was her 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Joseph Lonon (Kiera), Jeremiah Bower (Riley), Felicia Williamson, Noah Santos, Zachary Santos, Hannah Santos, Jonah Bower, Christopher Santos, Matthew Santos, Jonathan Bower and Ethan Gontz. Additionally, Margie had many other "children and grandchildren of the heart" that called her Mama Marge or Grandma. She was preceded in death by her parents: Juan Hernandez Vega and Rosa Vega. Margie was a wife, a mother, a sister and a friend to all. Let us not mourn her passing but rejoice that she is with her Lord and Savior. Like she always said, " Love You More."
