James W. Hindinger,

James W. Hindinger Sr., 80, formerly of 4950 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, went to be with the Lord as well as his beloved wife of 48 years, Miriam, on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in Dade City Hospital, Dade City, Florida. Born January 7, 1936 in Altoona, PA, he was the son of the late John and Louise Hindinger. Jim spent 31 years with Pennsylvania Department of Welfare and 6 years as the Executive Director of Dauphin County Board of Assistance prior to retirement in 1995. On August 24, 1963 he married Miriam "Mim" Ebright in Winchester, VA. They resided in their Linglestown home from April 1964 until October 2000 when they relocated to Dade City, FL. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling in their RV that they purchased in 1966, and had traveled to all 48 contiguous states through the years. Jim was an instrument rated private pilot and flight instructor, and a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) He had been a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Harrisburg and Kamp Fire Kampers, Good Sam Club, Holiday Ramblers RV Club, and Family Motor Coach Association. He was a life member of Moose Lodge and a supporter of the National Rifle Association (NRA) Surviving are his step daughter, Judith A. Betz of FL; his children, James W. Jr., Joseph E., and Patricia L. Gummo of all of Altoona and John C. of Pittsburgh, PA. Five grandchildren, James T., Ryan P., Joseph Jr., Jessica and Christopher Cramer. A sister, Marie Briggs of Sumpter, SC and his great grandchildren, Avery L. of Pittsburgh, PA. and Dominic Maher, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter Elizabeth Ann, and a sister, Ann Sanker of Altoona. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 11 AM in The Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 6150 Allentown Blvd. Harrisburg. Rev. Edward J. Quinlan will be celebrant. Burial will be beside his beloved wife in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita Catholic Church, 14404 14 th St., Dade City, FL 33523. The Boyer Family is honored to handle the arrangements for the Hindinger family.
