David W. Lesher

After 95 hard-working years, David W. Lesher, of New Buffalo, PA, quietly moved on from this life on July 8th, 2026 at Stonebridge Health Center in Duncannon, PA. Born on the first day of April, 1931 in Walnut Bottom, PA to Jacob C. Lesher and his wife Mary (Ott), he grew up, and got into no small amount of mischief, in Shippengburg, PA. Known to his parents and siblings as Davey, he joined the army while still in school and served in Germany and Korea where he learned what would become his life long profession, driving trucks. He started out being chosen as the personal driver for a "full bird colonel" who took pity on him because he was so young. Thus began his career behind the wheel. After the war he worked hauling freight for several trucking companies, longest at MFX, Motor Freight Express. On the weekends he enjoyed time with friends hitting balls with clubs into faraway little holes, playing a game that some have described as a good walk spoiled. At this, as in all things, he excelled, (up to and including the "19th Hole"), even if his CB handle was "Double-Bogie". But his companions and comrades called him "Slick", due to his careful and considered way of dressing. Always very meticulous about his clothing was David W. Known around his town as "Duct-Tape Dave", he could fix almost anything and enjoyed working with his hands. If you needed to borrow a tool, he was sure to have it in the garage. He could help you change your oil, repair your vacuum, replace the wick in a kerosene heater, and teach you how to make that chip shot out of the rough onto the green. Through all this he found time to be a husband and a father. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth (Sally Crouse) Lesher and by his four children, Marleen, Damita Jo, Sharyn and Jake. He also took great pride in his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his beloved family and many friends. As Dave would no doubt want you to remember, in all things...Measure Twice, Cut Once. Military honors will be rendered at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Monday, July 20, 2026 at 2:30 PM.
