Michael C. George

April 7, 1946 - January 21, 2022

Michael C. George, 75, of Oliver Street, Newport, went to with the Lord, early on Friday, January 21, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family. Born April 7, 1946 in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Clarence and Betty (Raffensperger) George. Mike was a kind and gentle man who was active in the community. He was a volunteer for the Newport Ambulance, a member of the Newport Fire Co., a regular volunteer at the Bread of Life Outreach and a member of Newport Assembly of God. Mike enjoyed collecting sailing ships, animals and fishing. He was retired from the former C.H. Masland Co. of Carlisle. He was a patriot and served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Surviving is his wife of almost 52 years, Janet (Miller) George. A daughter Tammy Baumgartner and husband Walter and a son, Christopher George and wife Teri. A brother Steven George and wife Margie, two sisters, Theresa Zerbe and husband Rod and Margaret Gouse and husband Steve. 5 grandchildren, Brittany and Walter Baumgartner, Brenden, Killiann and Kandice George and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, January 29, 2022 in the Family Life Center, Shortcut Road, Newport. His Pastor, Gary Bellis, will officiate. Interment, with full military honors, will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, May 26, 2022 in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to; Bread of Life Outreach, 253 N. 6th Street, Newport, Pa 17074 The Boyer Family is honored to handle the arrangements for the George Family.
