Edward Toner Strong II

August 23, 1964 - January 7, 2022

Edward (Ed) Toner Strong II passed away at the age of 57 on January 7, 2022. Born in Altoona in 1964 he graduated from Altoona Area High School in 1982 where he was in the band, he played a mean drum. Out of high school he enlisted in the Army where he spent 6 years in the infantry unit even going overseas to Germany for a few years. Upon his returned from the Army, he moved to Carlisle and then settling in Loysville, Perry County. He was an Army veteran and the Perry County Honor Guard Commander. Affiliates with the New Bloomfield VFW and a lifetime member of the American Legion. And enjoyed French and Indian and Revolutionary War re-enacting for over 20 years. He retired from Roadway Yellow trucking company in 2018. And was enjoying his time with family and friends making trips back to Altoona, Reinholds, and hanging out with family and neighbors. He worked with Home Depot to help veterans get repairs needed to make their life easier. He volunteered with the military share by driving deliveries to veterans that were home bound. He loved his military brothers. He was a son, brother, uncle, husband, father and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his grandfather George Wilt and grandmother Lona Strong both of Altoona. He survived by his father and mother, Ed Sr. and Ann Strong of Altoona, Sister Brenda (Strong)and Don Williams of Loretto, Brother Craig and Rachel Strong of Tyrone, wife Barbara Strong of Loysville, daughters Fawn Strong and James of Landisburg, Sky (Strong) Metzger and Kyle of Carlisle, Jade Strong and Chi Chi of Landisburg, and granddaughter Kloe Strong, along with nieces and nephews and close friends. Funeral services will be 2 PM on Saturday, May 14, 2022 in the Boyer Family Funeral Home, New Bloomfield. A visitation will be held from noon til 2 PM. Interment, with full military honors provided by the Perry County Honor Guard, will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 2 PM. The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to The Perry County Honor Guard, VFW New Bloomfield, PA
